The Hays essay helped to reveal how to understand and apply Old Testament Regulation in today's culture. Hays declares " principlismвЂќ is the approach that " (a) can be consistent, treating all Old Testament Bible verses as The lord's Word, (b) does not be based upon arbitrary nontextual categories, (c) reflects the literary and historical context of the Rules, placing it firmly into the narrative story of the Pentateuch, (d) displays the theological context with the Law, and (e) compares to New Testament teaching. вЂќ This method features strengths and weaknesses. Hays says a strength of principlism " is that it truly is fairly simple and consistent. вЂќ Because of the simpleness of the method I can find myself utilizing it to apply this Testament Laws more to my life and teaching the process to some of my senior high students that enroll in youth group. This would permit the students to view the Old Testament as a important source of guidance and worthy of more in depth study. A weakness on this approach mentioned previously by Hays is that " it may are likely to oversimplify several complex issues. вЂќ This may be a weak spot for someone learning the Old Testament Law for a seminary doctorial level but I see it like a fantastic means of teaching legislation to fresh Christians or any layperson planning to apply the Law to their lives today. It would seem when Christ said " Do not feel that I have not really come to abolish what the law states or the Prophets; I have not really come to abolish all of them but to accomplish themвЂќ (Matthew 5: 17) and Paul's teaching in Romans 7: 6 " we have been introduced from the law so that we serve inside the new way of the Nature, and not in the old method of the written codeвЂќ that they will be contradicting one another. This is not the case.
